FAQ's About Attending Your Dental Appointment

What to do if myself or someone in my household tests positive for Covid-19?

  • Complete the online report form
  • Isolate the positive individual and manage symptoms
  • Inform close contacts of the positive test
  • The infected individual needs to continue to isolate until after  the required isolation period has passed.

Can I still come to the office if I feel OK

  • Household members or close contacts of someone who has tested positive for COVID will need to monitor for symptoms
  • Fully vaccinated individuals(minimum 2 doses) can still attend their dental appointment but must avoid high-risk settings (seniors homes, etc.) for ten days
  • Non-vaccinated individuals, or those with only 1 dose, will need to isolate for 10 days

For more information see the BC Centre for Disease Control Website

When can I end self isolation after testing positive?

If you are managing your illness at home you can end isolation when all three of these conditions are met:

  • Fully vaccinated: At least 5 days have passed since your symptoms started, or from test date if you did not have symptoms. You should wear a mask even in settings where a mask isn’t required. Fully vaccinated means you received both doses of a 2-dose series (e.g. AstraZeneca, Pfizer, or Moderna vaccine) or it has been more than 14 days since you received a single dose of a 1-dose series (e.g. Janssen/ Johnson and Johnson).
Not fully vaccinated: At least 10 days have passed since your symptoms started, or from the day you tested positive if you did not have symptoms.
  • Fever has resolved for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
  • Symptoms have improved.

Our Office Protocols

We are committed to slowing the spread of COVID-19. Our dental practice has implemented new and enhanced safety protocols, including:

To help you prepare for your appointment, we’d like to highlight the changes we’ve made to protect our patients and staff. Our safety protocols include:

Appointment screenings

Patient Symptom Screenings

Prior to appointments, we are contacting patients to perform patient screenings. Our screenings help determine whether patients are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 before they arrive at our office.

If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or are feeling under the weather, we ask that you reschedule your appointment for a later date. Our patient screening process helps protect our other patients and staff members from exposure.

Hand sanitize

Masks and Hand Sanitizer

For convenience and safety, we have installed hand sanitizer and face mask stations at our front entrance.

After every appointment, staff will clean, disinfect and sterilize surfaces, instruments and the operatory to make sure every appointment starts fresh.

Maintain social distance

Maintaining Distance

We are taking steps to minimize contact and maintain physical distance guidelines when interaction is inevitable.

We are asking our patients to stay in their vehicles until their scheduled appointment time.

Plexiglass barriers have been installed at our reception desks to protect our patients and staff

Our seated chairs have been spaced out to help patients maintain physical distance

Temperature Checks

Staff Monitoring

Along with the new protocols listed above, our staff continues to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and we have rapid tests available to screen staff on a weekly basis.

Our new protocols are designed to keep patients and staff safe. We will continue to monitor these measures to ensure their effectiveness. If necessary, we will keep you informed of any changes we make to our protocols. If we need to reschedule your appointment, we will call you directly.

Surface disinfectant

Signs for Guidance and Surface Cleaning

We are implementing our enhanced protocols for the safety of our patients and staff. If you have any questions or feel unsure of our new protocols, we are happy to provide guidance and answer your questions. We have also posted signs to provide guidance and clarifications on our new process.

Vaccination logo

Staff Vaccinated

All our staff members are vaccinated against Covid-19. A study published in August 2021 indicates that if you had COVID-19 before and are not vaccinated, your risk of getting reinfected is more than two times higher than for those who were infected and got vaccinated.

We encourage you to visit our website frequently and check your inbox for additional information and updates. If you have an urgent matter or question, give our office a call. We appreciate your understanding as we adapt to our new schedule and do our best to keep up with patient demand.

We are committed to providing our patients with the dental care they need in a safe, comfortable environment. Call us today to book an appointment!
